The Story. The InsPiration

On December 7, 2024, the Jersey City community suffered an unimaginable loss when six young adults were tragically killed in a car accident. Among them was Darnell Carr Jr., a beloved member of our family whose joyful spirit brought light to everyone around him.

Born on May 10, 2002, Darnell was just 22 years old and already carving his own path to success. He worked multiple jobs, including serving as an employee at Public School MS #7 in Jersey City, NJ, while also managing his own clothing design and custom printmaking business. His creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit inspired everyone who knew him.

What people remember most about Darnell is his radiant smile. He had a remarkable way of making each person feel seen, valued, and welcomed. His warmth, silliness, and positivity could brighten even the darkest room, leaving an imprint that will never fade.

To honor Darnell’s life and the joy he brought to others, we created this foundation. His kindness and deep love for people, especially young people, make this mission a natural reflection of who he was. Through this work, we strive to continue the spirit of generosity and light that Darnell shared every single day.

This foundation is not only a way to give back, but also a way to celebrate Darnell’s legacy—bringing smiles, sparking hope, and making the world brighter, one act of kindness at a time.
